Who we are and what we do
Led by Andy Elson, one of the UK’s most innovative design and aeronautical engineers, Elson Space Engineering offers a team with a diverse and highly specialised range of skills – research, development, engineering, logistics and project management.
Andy Elson has an impressive track record in leading pioneering design across a wide range of projects including space, high-altitude technology and life-support. He has over 45 years’ engineering experience and has established himself as a global leader in aeronautics and aviation engineering. Equipment designed and built by Andy Elson and his team has set more than 65 world records.
Simon Ashby, Associate, specialises in geospatial applications, systems and payloads. He has held senior managerial, technical design and delivery roles in public and private sector organisations worldwide. After gaining an MSc in Geographic Information Management ICT, remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Simon joined Infoterra Ltd where he delivered location-based ICT projects, working with Europe’s leading remote sensing experts.
In 2013, Simon joined the public sector, holding senior management and technical leadership roles at Ordnance Survey and the UK Home Office. He has worked with senior government, law enforcement and military officials from national mapping and cadastral authorities, national defence agencies, and commercial organisations. Simon joined ESE in 2017.
